A: Metal-clad switchgear uses grounded metal barriers between all the main compartments and comes with draw-out circuit breakers,it also has specific insulation requirements according to IEEE C37.20.2.Metal-enclosed switchgear just has a common outer shell with no internal barriers,and it can use fixed or load-interrupter parts.Metal-clad is much safer and easier to maintain,and it's needed when you want draw-out breakers and higher continuous currents.
